A Donation From A 1982 GSD Graduate

Grateful for a donation from a 1982 GSD graduate ♥️

Adonia: Hello! I’m standing here next to Primary Building (PB). I have something exciting to share. Libby (Cranshaw) West, who graduated from GSD in 1982, donated $20. Thanks, Libby! She told me she loved PB. So do I, and all other GSD graduates too! We loved PB here…it was like a home to us. It was big and beautiful. If you stand at the top of PB you would have a really beautiful view out there around the building. So nice!

Adonia: Libby also told me that when she entered PB, from 1968 to 1974, she loved studying at PB and she loved the teachers who taught at that building too. So again, thanks, Libby, for your donation! You donations (of any amount) are important because it’ll help PB become three divisions: National Deaf Schools Museum, a new home for GSD museum, and ASL Rose Studio & Store.

Adonia: I’ll explain briefly each of the division; what National Deaf Schools Museum will look like…it will reside in a large room, open to people to look around. There will be 50 TV monitors around (50, as in 50 states). In each state there will be history and stories about their Deaf schools, how they are established, and who the leaders are, etc. Each state may have one two, three or maybe five Deaf schools or so on. For example, Georgia have had five Deaf schools, but some of them had closed or were sold off. One alumni of GSD will share stories about them. Same for all other states, spoken in ASL by alumni of each Deaf school and all will be on TV monitors. Under each TV monitor there will be 3D models of vintage schools on display.

Adonia: For GSD Museum, it has rich history of artifacts, documents, pictures and memorabilia which belonged to GSD alumni, so it needs a space for them. And as for ASL Rose studio and store, it already has online store but needs a place to research, publish, and distribute bilingual and bicultural products.

Adonia: So any amount of donation is welcome! Thanks for donating and for sharing this post, too! Thanks so much!
